In recent times, there has been a distinct shift
toward operating in a low-carbon economy, which means a minimal output of greenhouse
gas emissions into the atmosphere.
Many organisations are acting by first measuring
and then addressing the emissions that are attributable to their operations. This
may include an assessment of the operations directly undertaken by an individual
organisation, or focus in the total effect of a particular product or service throughout
the supply chain. Government are in the process of launching a range of legislation
to further encourage efficiency.
